The story of Graeme and Eveline was incredible. They were from warring clans and forced into marriage by the king in an effort to bring peace among two of his strongest clans. From there, the story evolves into the issues of Eveline's "daftness", brought on by her allowing others to believe what they will, her disability, her resilience, her acceptance into a rival clan, and the growing affections between the two. You can't help but fall in love with both of them as they learn about one another. As the story progresses, we as readers get to see betrayal, loyalty, remorse, and love play out in all of the characters. We feel the fear of the hero and heroine, as well as the deep sense of love and family.
The secondary characters were equally engaging, and leave you wanting to read their stories. (I for one am excited to see what happens with Rorie.) My only complaint is the February is so far away! I highly recommend this book to any looking to read great story.
